What are Relationships?

Relationship Counselling Plymouth

The connections we form with others, whether it be romantic partners, friends, or colleagues, can deeply affect our happiness, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.

When relationships are healthy and supportive, they can bring us joy, fulfillment, and a sense of belonging. However, when relationships become strained, toxic, or filled with conflict, they can take a toll on our mental health.

Relationship challenges, such as communication breakdowns, trust issues, unresolved conflicts, or unhealthy dynamics, can lead to feelings of anxiety, sadness, loneliness, and frustration.

These difficulties can permeate various aspects of our lives, impacting our self-confidence, ability to form meaningful connections, and overall emotional well-being

How Plymouth Counselling Can Help You Resolve Relationship Matters

At Plymouth Counselling, although we do not offer relationship counselling for couples together, as an individual, there are still huge benefits to accessing counselling when it comes to relationships matters.

Relationships come with the complexities of aligning your values and belief systems with those of the people in your life. In particular with romantic relationships, sometimes we can struggle to navigate our differences together in a way that allows both people to feel secure in who they are without overcompensating to ‘keep the other person happy’ or ‘wanting to keep the peace’. We can sometimes lose sense of who we are and this can lead to unhealthy patterns developing within our relationships. Or maybe we are noticing this in our partner.

What counselling offers is the space and chance to understand yourself again in the dynamic of the relationship, help you uncover insights about your relationship patterns, identify areas for growth, and develop healthier communication and conflict resolution skills. You’ll be empowered to understand your own needs, boundaries, and expectations, making informed decisions and setting realistic goals.

Through counselling, you’ll gain self-awareness, discover your strengths, and build the confidence to establish and maintain healthy, fulfilling connections. All working towards you having healthy, thriving relationships that fill you with joy and love.
