What Is Abuse?

Abuse Counselling Plymouth

Abuse can take place in many forms and can sometimes be difficult to acknowledge or stop. No matter the form of abuse, no one deserves to be at the end of another person’s (or group of people’s) abusive behaviour.

Ways in which abuse can take place may be physical, sexual, domestic violence, psychological, emotional, financial and more. It can also refer to any kind of relationship within your life.

If you ever have any concerns over your own safety or that of someone else, it is always advisable to call the police on 999 for emergencies or you can seek advice and support from numerous agencies such as:

How Plymouth Counselling Can Help You Heal From Abuse

Counselling can be helpful for anyone who feels they may have suffered abuse in any form at any time to safely find closure from their experiences and heal.

You no longer have to live with those ties to how you were treated and can instead discover that rather than ‘being done to’, you can take back control and choose the best ways to move forward feeling free.

Our work together will be at your pace. It may at times feel difficult but there will never be any pressure in your sessions for you to share anything you do not wish to.

Together, we will focus on what you need and how you can put that in place. Your physical and emotional wellbeing are always the most important part of the counselling process and by encouraging this, your sense of worthiness will naturally grow, repairing the harm that may have been caused.
